10 Questions to Ask Your Boudoir Photographer (Before & After Your Shoot!)

Hey there!

If you're thinking about booking a boudoir session (or you've already taken the leap... YAY!), it's totally normal to have a few questions. Honestly, we love when our clients ask everything under the sun because boudoir isn't just about the photos. It's about showing up fully informed, excited, and ready to rock it.

So today, I’m breaking down 10 of the most common questions we get before and after a shoot...

1. How much does a boudoir session cost?

Great question…and one you should definitely ask any photographer upfront!
At our studio, your total investment is made up of two parts:

  • A session fee, which covers the experience itself

  • And your product + image order, which you’ll select after the shoot.

Don’t worry, we always walk you through full pricing before you book. Transparency is our love language.

2. Do you edit or retouch the images?

Yes! All images you purchase will be fully retouched. Think blemish removal, smoothing out weird lighting shadows, softening skin, etc.

But here’s the deal: We don’t do size manipulation or change your body. You’re beautiful exactly as you are, and we’re here to celebrate that…not photoshop it away.

3. Should I get a spray tan or hit the tanning bed?

We recommend skipping it!

  • No spray tans for 4 to 6 weeks before your shoot

  • No tanning beds for at least 2 to 3 weeks

Tans can leave your skin looking patchy or orange on camera, and that’s not the vibe.

4. Where is your studio located?

Our studio is in Neenah, WI! Want a session in your city? Just ask and we’ll chat about what that could look like.

5. How do I prepare for my boudoir shoot?

Don’t stress... you’ll get a full prep guide from us a few weeks before your session. But here’s the quick version:

  • Come with clean hair and a clean face

  • Get a good night’s sleep

  • Hydrate

  • Trust the process... we’ve got you covered

6. Will you share my images online?

Only if you say yes.
You’re in full control. We’ll never share anything unless we have your clear, written permission.

7. When do I get to see my photos?

Right after your session! We call that an immdiate Image Reveal and Ordering Appointment where you’ll view your photos and decide what you want to purchase.

8. What should I bring to my session?

Just a couple of basics:

  • A black thong

  • A nude thong

  • Optional: thigh highs or fishnets if you want to add a little something extra

We also have a huge Client Closet at the studio... so no stress if you don’t have a lot to bring.

9. Can I bring a friend with me?

Short answer... no and yes.

We know it can feel comforting to have someone with you, but this experience is all about you. No distractions. No one watching. Just freedom to fully let go and own it. If you really need a support person with you…girls only and no partners.

You’ll be in good hands... and we’ve got the reviews to prove it.

10. When should I book my boudoir session?

We book anywhere from 6 to 12 months in advance, especially during busy seasons.

If you’re gifting your images for something special (like a birthday or holiday), plan to book at least 12 weeks ahead so we’ve got time for editing, design, and delivery.
